|
|
I'm not trying to sponsor a thread that mimics other forums' hunting threads.
I'm interested in the following:
What your hunt was, how it was taken, a picture of your kill, yourself, and the tool used. Here's an example:

After being awakened at 2am on a Wednesday morning by the sound of barking and screeching (actually, the sound of little kids screaming is more like it), and the end result being two raccoons managing to rip through a screen door and steal corn and dog food off my porch, I decided to do a little damage control.
Friday night, a friend of mine and I were coming back from the feeder, looking for what we thought were pigs (turned out to be stealthy white-tail deer), we come across this messy boar coon.
My friend shined a 3million candlepower spot light on this bloody guy, and he stopped and stared right at my friend, who was driving the vehicle. I step out with my .223 and put him in my crosshairs. Pull of a 3.5 trigger was very quick, and he was down, without a screech or a twitch. 40gr. of ballistic goodness.
40lb boar coon... April 24, 2009. 40gr Hornady Vmax, factory load.
Remington 700SPS Varmint, 26" Heavy barrel, 1/12" twist, 3.5lb trigger.

That's not the gospel, but that's what I'd like anyway... that way we all know what we like to shoot with, and how well these bullets work. Same goes for Shotguns as well. I hope this catches on. Especially for some of those guys who seem to think I'm like the guru of wild pigs ;) _________________ Mega/Mega Build in Progress

November 5, 2006; 7:00pm, my drive way.
2' rattlesnake was spotted outside the west side of the house. First shot of #7 dove shot missed completely, in fact, pressure of the impact on the ground in front of the snake launched this little guy backwards a little bit.
Second shot of the dove shot landed middle of the body, almost severing the snake in half. Snake was estimated at 6 or 7 months old, but with 6 buttons.
Don't laugh guys.... this is my wife's 20gauge... I sold mine back in August, and hadn't replaced it yet... still looking for a certain model.

Put my 16 right near his head and pop that sucker..... Skin 'em clean 'em, cook the meat over a mesquite fire and I'd rub the skin down with C-Rat salt and then I'd sell 'em to a guy who made belts and hat bands from 'em.... Good eatin' and I made money also.... I used to keep my C-Rat boxes and catch Tarantulas and sell them to a pet shop in the Springs.... |

Oh I am sure it tastes great and I would have no problem seeing them grilled up sitting beside some potatoes but my yard is "Zero Tolerance/No Snake Zone"
The last one that came slithering along last year had me out there with a shovel hacking away until there was enough displaced earth to bury it in haha
If a rattlesnake would somehow make it over here you guys would see me on the news as I would be on the roof of my house emptying every round of ammo I have into it lol |

Believe it or not, of my time at Ft. Carson from 85-89, I only saw one of those things. And we spent as much time downrange as the next battalion. Now Pinyon Canyon was another story. Now snakes in Alabama are not as polite and do not make much noise. My fear are the white-mouthed ones dropping into the boat!
Now I don't know of many snakes that'll try to get in the boat with a scuba tank in their mouths, shooting down into the boat is not much of an option. |
